How do I take my music off my hard drive (iTunes library) and transfer all of it to an external hard drive?

I work in a hospital and love my job but cannot handle the smells. Everything else I can deal with, but smells just make me lose it. I have seen that one can use Vicks vapor rubs, but am wondering what else works. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
